Well-led
Leaders were visible and staff felt respected and valued, describing a positive and supportive culture. Managers encouraged an open culture with feedback and lessons from incidents being shared through regular team meetings and debriefs. A comprehensive quality assurance framework ensured compliance with policies while regular audits identified areas of improvement. Leadership prioritised future planning with robust continuity plans and initiatives to ensure sustainability.

Governance, management and sustainability
Staff explained how they felt supported, respected, and valued by their team and management. They described having a positive and supportive culture where the hospice encouraged further development and continuous learning. Staff described leaders as being visible and having a presence across the organisation.
Managers emphasised a collaborative and open culture which sought to be inclusive across all staff levels. Regular team meetings and debriefs after incidents ensured learning was shared with staff and there was opportunity to improve patient care. Staff received annual training on information governance and staff we spoke with were aware of their responsibilities to comply with good information governance and management. The hospice ensured staff were kept up to date with current guidance. Leaders demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and innovation with active participation in conferences and workshops. Leaders maintained this commitment by networking with local partners to share best practise and learning. The hospice ensured compliance with policies through regular audits and a comprehensive quality assurance framework which allowed the hospice to identify gaps and improve on its service. Leaders had developed extensive business continuity plans to cover events that could impact the running of services. Regular reviews of these plans and clear protocols in place ensures the hospice was prepared to deal with emergencies. Leaders stressed on future planning with comprehensive five year plans and initiatives in place to ensure the visions of the hospice were sustained. The hospice maintained a proactive approach in recognising and improving upon feedback with this being a key topic in governance committee meetings.
