Assessing needs
Feedback from people and relatives was positive showing how the service had assessed people’s needs and discussed with people and their representatives their requirements prior to admission. One relative told us, “[Relative] hasn’t been here long but, when they arrived, we were encouraged to share their life history, likes and dislikes and wishes with the manager. So far everything seems to be working out well.”
Management and staff explained the robust pre assessment process and were able to demonstrate their knowledge of people’s needs and requirements.
The provider had clear processes in place to support safe admissions, including a clear and up to date policy. The registered manager led this process and completed the initial assessment for all new service users. Records showed detailed pre-assessment paperwork was competed with people and their representatives. Where needed referrals were made to health professionals for clinical support and equipment. Senior staff were also fully engaged in the follow ups for new admissions.
