Independence, choice and control
The service promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Supporting people to maintain and regain their independence and live well in their own homes was at the core of the service. Staff were committed to supporting people and told us various ways about how they encouraged people to live a full life. A member of staff said, “Supporting independence helps maintain dignity, confidence, and overall well-being. It allows people to make choices about their own lives, stay active, and feel valued. Encouraging independence also reduces dependency on care services and improves quality of life.” Care plans and risk assessments demonstrated consideration of independence throughout. Guidance was clear and detailed to aid staff in their support of people.
