Score: 3

Relatives we spoke with felt their family members were supported to achieve the best outcomes in their care. They told us they were very involved in supporting their family member, but that staff had managed to achieve some things to improve their family member’s life which they had not. They gave examples of one person’s significant weight loss and improved mobility and another person being supported to manage their anxieties and undertake activities of their choice.

The manager was able to give us a number of examples of how people had been supported to achieve good outcomes in their care. They told us they did this through talking with people and their relatives, advocates and staff. A member of staff told us, “We have a chiropodist come out and see people and one person likes a foot massage. If people want or need any treatment we look to source it for them.”

There was evidence to show staff had supported a person, whose mobility had recently deteriorated, get the right support to help them manage this and to allow them to continue to live at the service. Staff had supported the person with medical appointments and worked with health professionals to ensure a good outcome was achieved for the person.
