Effective
Staff provided good care and treatment, gave patients enough to eat and drink, and gave them pain relief when they needed it. Managers monitored the effectiveness of the service and made sure staff were competent. Staff worked well together for the benefit of patients, advised them on how to lead healthier lives, supported them to make decisions about their care, and had access to good information. However, within critical care we found staff were not always following correct process when completing the Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment (ReSPECT) plans with patients. Managers used information from audits to improve care and treatment for patients. Staff followed national guidance to gain patients’ consent. The service had access to risk assessments which were based on nationally recognised, evidence-based assessments. however, within medicial care staff mostly completed and update risk assessments for each patient but the risk assessments lacked key detail.
