Care was delivered by kind and thoughtful staff who promoted people’s independence and supported people to make the choices they wanted.

Independence, choice and control
People told us their independence, choice and control were promoted. One relative said, “Staff are good at asking for permission before giving care. [Person] will sometimes say not now, and staff are happy to do this later as requested.”
Managers and staff were able to describe how people were supported to be as independent as possible and to have choice and control over their lives.
Observations throughout the course of the assessment confirmed people were encouraged to make choices and helpful staff promoted independence.
Processes were in place to ensure people were supported to remain independent and receive choice and have control in their day to day lives. Care plans documented how staff should support people, and these were reviewed regularly.
