Our view of the service
Date of assessment 05 to 12 December 2024. Greenfield care is a supported living service providing support to people with a learning disability and autistic people, as well as those living with sensory needs. At the time of our assessment, there were 2 supported living service premises, with 2 people supported with personal care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support: Risks to people were assessed which helped to keep them safe. Staff supported people to be as independent as possible. People were supported to meet their aims and interests. People were given information in an accessible way to support decision-making. Right care: Care was person-centred and promoted people’s dignity, privacy and human rights. Staff treated people as individuals and with respect, dignity and compassion. People were supported to have choice and control and make decisions about how their care and support was provided. Staff told us they were valued and supported in their roles, through training and supervision. This helped them meet people’s needs. Right culture: Staff and managers understood their duty to safeguard people from abuse. There was a positive and open culture. The provider had established oversight systems in place, which they operated effectively. Leaders worked in partnership with other professionals to deliver good outcomes. We looked at all 5 key questions and the associated quality statements during this assessment. Based on the findings of this inaugural assessment, we have rated them good overall and for all 5 key questions.
People's experience of this service
During our assessment we visited and spoke with both people using the service and their relatives. The feedback we received was positive. Comments included, “Very happy”, “[The registered manager] lets us know if anything changes”, “[Person] leads an independent life, goes day centre”, “I’m happy with the way things are”, “They look after [family member] well”, “I feel safe”, “During the day, staff make sure I have a shower, cut my nails, change my clothes, help me shave” and “I go out once a week. I go Tooting/Brixton/Streatham – I go with staff. I have an electric wheelchair.” The provider used a range of methods to capture people’s voices including regular key worker meetings and feedback surveys. In addition, we received feedback from external health and social care professionals who also said the provider worked well with them to support people’s needs.
