Effective
Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. At our last assessment we rated this key question Good. At this assessment the rating has remained Good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this. People were involved in the assessment of their needs, and support was provided where needed to maximise their involvement. People’s assessments were up-to-date, and staff understood people’s current needs. People’s communication needs were appropriately assessed and met to maximise the effectiveness of their care and treatment. Staff obtained consent from people before providing care and treatment. Care plans and assessments considered whether people could communicate their needs and make decisions about their care. We did not assess all the quality statements within this key question. We did not identify concerns relating to these areas which we judged as being met at our last inspection.

Assessing needs
People were involved in the assessment of their needs, and support was provided where needed to maximise their involvement. People’s assessments were up-to-date, and staff understood people’s current needs. Staff told us,’’I feel very confident supporting the client with their individual care needs’’. People’s communication needs were appropriately assessed and met to maximise the effectiveness of their care and treatment. The provider offered people information and leaflets in their preferred language.

People’s views and wishes were taken into account to plan their care. Staff obtained consent from people before providing care and treatment. This helped them make an informed decision. People and their representatives completed consent forms. Care plans and assessments considered whether people could communicate their needs and make decisions about their care.
